Whitney Cappellucci is no stranger to CrossFit.
The New Mexico-native just came off of her seventh Regionals appearance. She’s been to the Games twice with Team CrossFit Albuquerque, with an impressive fourth place finish in 2010 and has been competing as an individual since 2012.
For four years, she fought hard, but failed to qualify for the Games. In 2015, she finished in sixth place, just shy of a qualifying spot.
Going into 2016, Cappellucci knew that this was it. After this competitive season, she’s trading her barbells for medical school. And she didn’t disappoint.
She finished second place in the South regionals, behind only Camille Leblanc-Bazinet with stellar finishes in Event 1 — the snatch ladder — and Event 7 — the thrusters and rope climbs.
Now, she’s getting ready for her first individual appearance in Carson in July. We caught up with Whitney to congratulate her on her rockstar performance at Regionals.
